So even though my summer home with Sadie is already a little more than half over, rather than focusing on how fast it's going by I'm really trying to make the most of each day and enjoy every moment.
It's so easy for me to get caught up in planning ahead that it often causes me to hurry on through the present and miss being fulfilled with what's going on right now.
As I get to be a 24/7 Mom to Sadie, I LOVE:
- Knowing when I get up the next day, I won't have to hurry through our morning routine to get out the door on time. I can eat up those moments and truly enjoy them, no matter how tired I am.
- Making coffee just for me to enjoy first thing (not the entire office : ) as I push Sadie on the swing
- The fact that I'M the one getting to witness all her new developments and cute mannersims throughout the day, rather than someone else. Her silly faces, standing up, walking....
- That I get to make those daily, influencial decisions - what songs we sing, what stories we read, what games we play. There's a great peace that comes over you when you know that you're in control of your child's day-to-day environment.
- Hearing her cute little coohs through the monitor letting me know Sadie's awake from her nap and then getting to see her sitting up in her crib all smiles when I walk through the bedroom door to get her.
- Being able to do enjoy LOTS of fun things together since we have a WHOLE day, rather than just an hour or 2... playing with toys, going for a walk, swinging, going for a wagon ride, visiting friends, playing in the pool, dancing to Michael Buble.
- That if the first half of the day didn't go so well, we get another shot in the afternoon rather than having to wait and get another shot tomorrow.
- Getting to go grocery shopping together... We have our little routine right down to where we park, and it's something I haven't gotten to do as I'm usually running to store on my lunch
- Watching her race to the door as she crawls over because she now knows Daddy's home.
- That Brian can have some extra 1-on-1 time in the evening since I'm not trying to get as much time in as possible too. When I am home for the day, I'm ready for a little break in the evening, so it benefits both of us!
- Knowing that even though Sadie is still so little, she's watching her Mom at her best as I'm a fulltime "Homemaker", rather than trying to fit it all into 3 hours a day.
These are just a few of the things that I'm so grateful I can experience for as long as I'm able, and thank the Lord that He has blessed me with the ability to do so.
